Tommy Huddleston began his ministry at the age of nineteen. He has served in different ministry leadership positions, mostly as Senior Pastor. A native of Gastonia, North Carolina, he received a Bachelor of Arts from Gardner Webb University, Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Luther Rice Seminary and Drew University. He has held leadership positions throughout Southern Baptist life, including eight years on the Board of Trustees of the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Pastor Tommy came to FBC as Transitional Pastor in May of 2014 before becoming full time Senior Pastor in 2016. He is married to the former Lucy Hobeika of Dillon, South Carolina. They are blessed to be the parents of three adult children; Rebecca, Stephen and Rachel.
Tommy Comer has served as Associate Pastor at First Baptist since January of 2006. Tommy and his wife, Cecile, both grew up in Spartanburg County. Cecile teaches fourth grade at Blacksburg Elementary School. They are the parents of two sons, Stewart and Jacob. Tommy is a 1977 graduate of the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg (now Upstate) and received a Master of religious Education from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1981. Tommy served in churches in Greer, North Augusta, and Sumter prior to coming to Gaffney. Tommy is a sports fan and enjoys Italian food.
Mark Hazle joined the staff of First Baptist Church in August of 2000. Mark, originally from Kentucky, is married to the southern belle of his dreams, Rhonda, who is the daughter of Gaffney natives, James Vaughn and Patricia Alsbrooks Vaughn. Mark and Rhonda first met at Southern Seminary in Kentucky in 1989 and got married in 1991. They have four lovable and energetic children, Jonathan, Alexia, Matthew, and Luke. (All four Gospels are in the family!) A few of Mark’s favorite things include playing with his children, playing the guitar, playing ultimate frisbee with the youth, and, just playing in general! His favorite verse is, “…how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,” Ephesians 3:18. Mark loves to hang out with young people and believes that God has uniquely created each of them to know Him and serve Him in awesomely extraordinary ways.
Blake Hooks joined the staff of First Baptist Church in January of 2017. Blake is a native of Florida, but has also lived in Massachusetts, South Carolina, Texas, and North Carolina. Blake is married to Ashley, who is a native of Shelby, NC, which is where they currently live. Ashley teaches fifth grade at Springmore Elementary in Boiling Springs, NC. Blake and Ashley have one son, Carter. Blake is a 1993 graduate of Clemson University and a 2000 graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Blake loves sports, camping, fishing, playing with Carter, and shopping with Ashley. He believes ministry with children and families is the most fun and significant thing you can do in church!
